Learn Cantonese Online 學廣東話 or in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is where at least 90% of the people speak Cantonese. So, if you're learning this fun variety of Chinese, or thinking of learning it, sooner or later you'll most likely find yourself either visiting or living in Hong Kong.

Ok, let's try the enrollment key. It's "cantonese" (without the quotes). You need to choose the course from the drop down menu on the left hand page after you login. You should get the course page appear after this step. If you scroll down, you'll see the place to enter the enrollment key. Click the button and everything should work.

Hi everyone!

Quite a few people have signed up over the past few months and a few of you have asked how you can get an "Enrollment Key". Initially I wanted to get everything finished before allowing learners into the course. Unfortunately, things has taken longer than expected. So, rather than wait for perfection we're officially announcing the beginning of a "Beta" phase of the project. What this means (in case you're unfamiliar with nerdie language) is that participants can use the materials for free for a given period on the understanding that some things are unfinished and others are less than ideal. The idea is that you as learners play with the course and give feedback, opinions, suggestions etc. This process means that we can make a much better course than if we just proceeded without your input. So, it's a Linux, rather than a Microsoft approach...

I'll try to add a couple of quizzes and exercises to the course over the weekend. Once I have everything ready I'll post the procedure for actually getting into the course with the Enrollment Key.

I don't know how long the Beta phase will last, but I envisage a month or so. After that, we will start to charge a small fee for access to the course. This will enable us to afford to upgrade our server - sound files take up an incredible amount of space, even mp3s! And server space costs money...
